Healthy Eating Food Review: Amy’s Kitchen Frozen Foods

I have never looked in the “organic” or “vegetarian” section of my local grocery store when shopping. I am not a vegetarian, and I used to think I couldn’t afford organic specialty food. I assumed they would be pricey, or not taste too good. I made a huge mistake by skipping this section! I recently found the brand Amy’s Kitchen and I am so excited to share my new yummy addiction with you!
Amy’s kitchen is the nation’s leading, natural, frozen food brand. They make convenient and tasty natural vegetarian meals and they sure know what they aredoing! I know I doubted it too, but every meal or snack I tried wassurprisingly delicious. Although I am not a vegetarian, I have been trying to eat healthier, and the thought of including more vegetables in my diet sounded like a good idea. I also liked that no additives, preservatives or GMOs are used to make these foods. If a child can’t pronounce it, you won’t find it on an Amy’s label. How refreshing is that? If you have a special diet check their website, they have gluten free dishes, as well as non-dairy/lactose free.

I tried only some of their products, but Amy’s Kitchen carries over 88 frozen meals including; pizzas, pocket sandwiches, pot pies, entrees, snacks and whole meals. They also make canned soups, beans and chili, as well as jarred pasta sauces and salsas.
In the morning a warm, quick and satisfying way to start your day is with the hot cereal bowls. I am always rushing in the morning and with a new baby I tend to her, before I feed myself. This is not good for either of us, since an
hour later I am starving, cranky and tired. A few minutes in the microwave, and I had a hot cereal bowl ready for eating. I felt full and it was good too. They have a few flavors like rolled oats, multi-grain and cream of rice.

For lunch, I tried some of Amy’s famous pot pies. I will admit that as a meat eater, I had seriously low expectations for a broccoli pot pie, but seeing as my plate was scraped clean, the chef’s at Amy’s once again proved me wrong! The pot pie had a crispy crust and the broccoli with cheese sauce was creamy. The vegetables were crisp and fresh looking, not soggy as I was expecting, so this was a surprising treat. The pot pie is one of the first products that Amy’s Kitchen made and I think they perfected it. I would highly recommend them.
Everyone here in the butyoudontlooksick.com office was hungry last week, so I used the microwave and heated some of the nacho and pizza snacks. These are bite size “rolls” similar to what a lot of competitors make. I didn’t
tell the staff that they were vegetarian or organic, I just heated them and put them on a plate. No one knew the difference. They gobbled them up and they were the big hit of the day! I think I may keep some on hand in our
freezer for parties, or last minute company.
Please note that not all of Amy’s products are microwavable, some need to go in the oven.
I can’t wait to go shopping again, and maybe try some of the kid’s foods with my daughter. If I am eating healthy she should too!
Next time you are in the grocery store, try something new, try Amy’s Kitchen.
