Product Review: Dr. Oetker Organic Frosted Brownie Mix
This is a brand new product in the natural food section of your favorite grocery store. A brand you have seen over the years, Dr. Oetker, has come out with a new line of organic mixes and one of them is a fabulous frosted brownie mix!
I thought I’d try it and make some for my toddler son. Today, however, I am way off my game. I am in total fog-brain land! Think I’m joking? I set the oven to the wrong temperature. I frosted them too soon. I didn’t have the butter properly softened. I left them in too long! And you know what? They still came out PERFECT!!!
They are a denser brownie with a deep chocolaty richness you will just crave! The frosting is even nice and full of great chocolate flavor! I was terribly skeptical about a powdered frosting mix, but never again! It isn’t the gooey kind, but more of a fluffy light kind that really works well. If you don’t like frosting, save it for a batch of cookies or something, because the brownies get a nice crust on top. It makes a square pan’s worth, that you are told to cut into 9 satisfying servings.
The only issue I had was spreading the batter, mostly because it’s more of a soft dough then a batter, so I powdered my hands with confectioners sugar (you could use cocoa, too) and patted them out.
So even with a bad case of brain-fog and way too much on my mind distracting me from my task, these brownies still got made with high marks! My son is going to love them. Also, they are organic so I know I’m not eating any more pesticides or genetically engineered foods that might make my condition worse! You simply can’t lose! They are even good enough to say you made them from scratch. I promise not to tell.
