Book Review: The Wonder of Probiotics
A 30 day plan to boost energy, enhance weight loss, heal GI problems, prevent disease, and slow aging.
by John R. Taylor N.D. and Deborah Mitchell
I have been hearing a lot about probiotics lately, in the news, on television and even by some of my health blogging friends. Simply put, probiotics are a “friendly bacteria” found in food and supplements, that one uses to combat
the “bad” bacteria in the intestinal tract. Although there are many books written on this topic, this one caught my eye. This book seems to make a lot of good promises right there in the title, for what using probiotics can do
for your health.
The author starts out the book by telling a short story about his time in China, giving the reader an insight into the personal and easy way the author writes. This book was not “thick” and bogged down with scientific jargon. You can tell that both the authors are passionate about this topic and have also had first hand experience.
I know that many times, patients like myself are looking for natural ways to take an active role in their health care. When I first read this book, I liked that it seemed “do-able” since “I can do anything for 30 days!” There are also relatively easy recipes located in the back of the book.
I must disclose that the author is also the CEO of naturalwellness.com a site that sells natural food supplements. I think this fact actually helps him be a more knowledgeable author on the topic, although others might see the book as a means for selling his product.
I would recommend this book for anyone who has been curious about probiotics or is looking to make a healthy change in the new year!
As always I strongly suggest that no major change in diet, or treatment should be undertaken without the supervision of a physician.
