June is National Safety Awareness Month

June is National Safety Awareness Month with the goal to raise safety awareness. This is put on by the National Safety Council. June 12-18 is “Teen Driving Safety.” The fourth week, June 19-25 is “Preventing Slips, Trips, and Falls,” and the final week, June 26-30, is “On the Road, Off the Phone.”

If you visit www.nsc.org  you can find information on summertime safety. Free registration will give you further information for the remaining weeks in both English and Spanish.

  • Preventing Slips, Trips and Falls really makes sense for us spoonies. I don’t know about other fibromyalgia folks, but I get the wobblies sometimes from the chronic pain and fatigue. I’ll lose my balance and wind up walking along the wall like a drunk.

Sometimes it’s better to sit down on the steps and bump down them like a toddler instead of trying to balance like an adult. Hang dignity, it’s better not to crack my head or worse, wreck my back and lose what mobility I have.
