Poetry: Alone At Night

Now I lay me down to go to sleep.
Away from prying eyes, I often weep.
I do not let others see my worries or my tears.
No one needs to know about my true pains or fears.
I want to be seen for my strengths and not my weaknesses.
For my greatest fears I want no witnesses.
At night, I lie alone in the darkness
with no worries to harness.
The night is a blank page,
from which I do not see the trials of the day.
To no one do I have anything to say.
In my dreams, life is a sea of tranquility.
Everything seems so clear and seamless.
Everything is relaxing and painless.
In my dreams, I can do things I could never do in reality.
I can walk or fly or have people truly understand me.
Only in dreams will the pain cease.
Only in dreams can I find peace.
