Sitting Down With Old Friends- Read a Book!

I read a lot of short stories, mostly mystery. And I have some favorite authors that write in that venue. Don’t you have some authors that you like better than others? If you do, it’s very hard to wait for the next book to come out!
I’m sitting here right now reading Great TV & Film Detectives, A Collection of Crime Masterpieces Featuring Your Favorite Screen Sleuths put out by Reader’s Digest.

I don’t always remember the author’s name, but I sure remember the characters. So far tonight, I have watched Father Brown solve an impossible crime and right now Mr. Campion is trying to find some evidence on a known criminal who, so far, has been smarter than the police. The first story had Roderick Allen in it.
So I have my book, a comfortable chair, and I’m visiting with old friends! And enjoying it very much.
Whether your read travel books, romance, historical fiction, or biographies of people you admire, it’s all the same. It’s not like you just read about them – it’s like you’re there as you read and you help them along the way!
People have always worried about me because when I used to go conferences, I’d take a book down to dinner with me and read while I ate. They’d come over and say, come join us – you shouldn’t be alone!
Alone? I have my book! And I have a friend here you can’t see, who is amusing me tonight! Some people need more imagination.
You can learn things from what you read, too. I love reading English mysteries or mysteries set in Australia or Africa. You learn about the county and the customs. I sometimes have to look things up because it fascinates me so much I want to know more. And that make you a more interesting person when chatting with your friends.
Make some friends of your own – read a book!

I just finnished “The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Zafon
Wow! It had everything! Mystery, romance, poetry, it was the best book I’ve read in years!

  • To say I am advid reader, would be an understatement. I read a couple of books or more a week. When I have a migraine I settle down and open a romanace or a Supernatural thiller, horor or romance. When I don’t have a migraine I read mostly fantasy. Pure escapism. So talking about books… fun stuff to me for certain.

Im a massive book fan, i read almost anything, from true life stories, to horrors, richard and judy books, biographies.
Ive certainly read a lot more since having M.E. and has helped me to rest.
Would love to start an online bookgroup specifically for people struggling with M.E. CFS, as would help people to find manageable books to read.
