Easy Holiday Craft: Light bulb Snowmen Ornaments

It is never too early to get into the holiday spirit! Try this easy winter snowmen craft project to keep for yourself or to give as a gift.

Things you will need per each:
Light Bulb
Orange Bump Chenille Stem
Black Felt
Craft Eyes (moving or not)
Baby Sock
Snow Paint
Ribbon
Mini craft bow
Craft Glue/Hot Glue and Gun
Glitter Spray or Pearl Paint – Optional
White paint – Optional
Embellishments – Optional
*Note: Most items above are easily secured at your local craft store or on Amazon.com
1- Cut into the box the bulbs came in so you can “plug” in the screw ends of the bulbs and help them stand up. (If only doing one, find an empty cereal box or similar and try this.) Once standing, you can either first paint with white paint, let dry and do touches of Snow paint or simply “pat” and paint on. (I found using my fingers and a sponge brush was the best thing for this!) Let dry over night. (Optional you can “dry brush” the pearl paint over the top if you like once dry, just let dry after this step as well.)
2- Remove bulbs and invert. Fold end of sock over so pretty sides are all you see and glue around the bulb neck. Once dry, tie a ribbon around the top just above the end of the bulb and secure with a dot of glue. (This is the
hanging ribbon so make sure sock and ribbon are secure.) Place a craft bow on the ribbon at he sock where the “face side” will be.
3- Glue on eyes. Use tiny dots of black felt for “charcoal” mouth in any shape a mouth can go. (Try “O” expressions.) Cut the large bump on the Chenille stem in half and cut at the end of the tin side so you half a large
bump and a full thin strand as one piece. Glue the cut end of the large bump side for the nose so it sticks straight out from the bulb. (This is his “carrot” nose.)
4- You can spray it all with glitter spray for a glistening appearance or even spray with adhesive spray and sprinkle on glitter or “Buffalo Snow”.
These make great inexpensive gifts and can be done sitting down or standing up. This is a great one for kids if they can be careful not to drop the bulbs.
instead of a baby sock use more felt in circles and strips to make a top hat. Just poke a hole int he top of the hat and tie the ribbon (and glue it) to the neck of the lightbulb and feed the loop through the top before you tack it down with glue.
Try snazzing it up with sequins, a pipe cleaner feather boa, etc!
And above all: Have Fun!!!
