I am a former nurse. In my "past life" I worked in clinics, hospitals, nursing homes and even at an insurance company. Nowdays I am sitting home, not much to do except, on days when I have my wits, write. Here is my opinion of Medicare Part D.
This Medicare part D,
It’s got the best of me.

She works a full day
Commutes home, and then
She works another
full-time job, again.
She's master accountant
And counselor, too
She sets aside worries
to listen to you.
There's laundry and cooking
and cleaning to do.

This poem is much darker poem than my usual style. It was written as a sort of poetic exorcism of the feelings of frustration, helplessness and sometimes utter hopelessness that have accompanied the battle I've been fighting with chronic back pain for the past several years.
