Summer Food Review: PhillySwirl Ice Cream Cupcakes
When you want just a taste of a classic summer treat, try PhillySwirl ice cream cupcakes. I love ice cream and I love cake… what is not to love about these tasty treats? I really like that they are portion controlled and perfect for those last minute guests. They would be a great addition to a children’s party. They are decorated and complete right out of the package and you can look like a “cupcake all-star” without any work.
The cup cakes come in classic chocolate and vanilla and each package comes with both flavors to please any crowd.
The ice cream frosting on the chocolate was creamy and tasted like a thick frozen chocolate mousse. It didn’t have an overwhelming chocolate flavor. The cupcakes were good, but had a “commercial store bought” quality. They were slightly dry and sticky.
The vanilla ice cream frosting cupcake was delicious, but super sweet. Even though I am an admitted chocoholic, I would have to say that the vanilla is better because even though it was sweet, it had more overall flavor.
Both are tasty- just depends if you want sweet or simple.
These cupcakes come in a 6 pack serving tray and can be kept in the freezer until ready to serve. I really like the idea of having something in my freezer at all times, so that I am prepared if company comes over for a surprise visit, or if I am just not up to grocery shopping or baking. I can still be a great hostess and provide something unique and fun by serving these cupcakes. You can also get a 12 pack at your local Sam’s Club or Costco type retailer.
When thinking of summer and entertaining, don’t get stressed out. Keep items like this one handy, so all you need to do is serve on pretty plates and enjoy your company!
