Product Review: The Handybar ®
This is one of those products that you use and say “wow, I wish I thought of that!”
I originally saw this demonstrated on QVC and was instantly intrigued. It helps you get in and out of a car or SUV and is especially useful for older individuals or anyone with disabilities. It’s helpful for anyone who needs that extra ‘hold’ when stepping in and out of a very high or very low car. I know that I am always looking for that handle on the top or sides of cars but some cars have them and some don’t. It is light enough that I could take this with me or leave it in my glove compartment. I would never need to worry about getting in and out of cars if I knew it was there to grab when I needed it. There are times I feel good when I leave for a trip, but after sitting a long time I am stiff and need help getting out of the car. This little gadget would do the trick.
The Handybar® inserts into the U-shaped striker plate on your vehicle door frame. The U-shaped striker plate is one of the strongest parts of the vehicle and is designed to keep your vehicle door closed in the event of a side-impact collision. Once inserted, you use the Handybar® to support your weight as you move yourself in and out of the vehicle. Remember to remove the Handybar® before you close the vehicle door.
There is a striker on each of the vehicle’s door pillars allowing the Handybar® to be used on both driver and passenger side-doors.
The Handybar is suitable for individuals weighing up to 350 lbs. It fits the majority of vehicles. Check your vehicle for the U shaped door striker. To see if it will work for your car, visit their website www.handybar.com Click on ‘check fit’ on the lower right of the home page. As an added safety bonus, this item can be used as a seatbelt cutter, and window breaker. It comes with a lifetime warranty.
Transferring out of a car has gotten a whole lot easier with the HandyBar! It’s a safe, easy, and affordable piece of equipment. I would recommend this item for anyone needing a bit of extra help moving in and out of cars, or as
a great gift for the elderly or disabled person in your life.
