On November 7th Don’t forget to set your clocks BACK 1 hour and check yourself too!

Hi Everyone,

If you are anything like me you forget things easily. So I started a habit when twice a year on daylight savings day, not only do I use the time to obviously set our clocks back one hour. But I use this as a reminder for a “1 hour” check of myself, and my home etc. too.

Only spend 1 hour so it is not overwhelming. Use this day to “check up” on things like batteries in flashlights, fire alarms, etc. Check your calendar, have you made appointments with your “non specialist” doctors like your dentist, obgyn, eye doctor? These are important appointments that shouldn’t be missed. Are your medical records up to date? Use this time to call and get copies of any tests etc, for your own medical file.

Why not use this time to make an appointment to get your car checked?

These are just examples of how you can use this bi-yearly “holiday” as a date not only to check all the clocks.. but to check yourself too.

Those are really great ideas! And doing them on daylight savings days is a good way to remember when to do it, in the fall at least you have an extra hour to work with. I know most fire co.s suggest you check and/or replace your smoke detector batteries as well.
